The laboratory is engaged in the study of the musculoskeletal system of the human body. The study tries to combine anatomical, biomechanical and clinical aspects of the various structures in order to better understand its function. The study in the laboratory also deals with examining pathologies of the musculoskeletal system. The research takes place in the laboratory is mainly engaged in anatomy and pathology of the spine and pelvis, the diagnosis and treatment of low back pain and different diseases of the spine, diagnosis and treatment of orthopedic and sports injuries. Laboratory equipment includes diagnostic ultrasound and CT images.

Imaging enables to explore the link between human anatomy, function and clinical findings. The diagnostic ultrasound provides a real time imaging of soft tissues such as muscle, tendon and ligament while resting and while performing movement. Using real tine ultrasound imaging can demonstrate the function of the tissue in addition to the ability to perform various measurements such as thickness and cross-sectional area of the structure which provides quantitative assessment of its function. CT scans give an imaging of the different structures while resting including the skeletal structure. The uniqueness of this device is providing three dimensional (3-D) imaging which allows observation of the anatomy, identify pathologies and make measurements of the structures such as vertebra width and length, intervertebral space, muscles cross-sectional area in addition to measurements spine configuration as lumbar lordosis angle.
